There are ideas the world is missing.
Immense is an independent publication exploring how AI is reshaping society, culture and economies across the Global South. We publish periodically, with our first issue arriving in December 2026
Why Immense
AI is changing the world unevenly
Much of the conversation about AI is shaped far from the places where its consequences may look very different.
Immense starts from the Global South. We explore how AI is changing work, culture, institutions, education, creativity and everyday life, and what those changes reveal about the societies adopting it.
We are interested in perspectives that challenge familiar narratives, surface overlooked realities and help us understand what AI is actually changing.
What we explore
AI & everyday life
How AI is changing communication, relationships, consumption and daily routines
Work & economies
Jobs, entrepreneurship, productivity, businesses and livelihoods
Culture & identity
Language, art, media, storytelling and cultural production.
Institutions & Power
Governments, companies, platforms and what it means for power, governance and public life
Education & Knowledge
Learning, teaching, research and the way knowledge is created and trusted
Infrastructure & Inequality
Access to computing, data, connectivity, capital and skills, and who benefits from AI
Have a piece that does not fit neatly into one of these lenses?
If it helps us understand how AI is changing life across the Global South, we still want to read it.
How we think
Beyond what AI can do, we care about what happens when people actually use it.
We look beyond product launches and model benchmarks to examine how AI interacts with existing cultures, institutions, incentives and inequalities.
- 01
Grounded
Start with what is actually happening. Strong pieces connect AI to real people, places, institutions, experiences or evidence.
- 02
Independent
We value arguments that move beyond both AI hype and doom.
- 03
Human
Technology matters because of what it changes for people. We are interested in consequences, trade-offs, adaptation and agency.

You do not need a formal title, a large audience or a polished writing career. We care about the strength of the idea, the clarity of the thinking and what your perspective helps others see.
What Makes a Strong Submission
A clear argument
We are looking for more than a broad topic. Your piece should tell us what you have noticed, what you think it means and why readers should care.
A grounded perspective
Connect the argument to real people, places, industries, institutions, experiences, research or evidence
Something we have not heard enough
Show us an overlooked consequence of AI, challenge a familiar assumption or help readers see an existing conversation differently.
Submission questions
Do you accept pitches?
No. We are currently considering completed manuscripts only.
Do I need to be based in the Global South?
No. However, the work should engage meaningfully with the Global South rather than using it simply as a backdrop.
Can I submit previously published work?
We are currently looking for original, previously unpublished work.
Can I submit my work elsewhere at the same time?
Yes. Simultaneous submissions are welcome. Please let us know if the piece is accepted elsewhere.
Do you pay contributors?
Yes. Accepted pieces receive a US$100 honorarium.
When will I hear from you?
Our typical response time is up to six weeks.
What if I have a question?
For submission enquiries, contact submissions@immensemag.com. Please do not send manuscripts by email. All submissions should be made through the submission form.
